Take Note

There are several very good books on business on being more productive. I want to read more, because I know they will be beneficial, but more means more time.

So, how do you read more, summarise it, and use what you have learned as quickly as possible

Option 1 – You can read the book, write notes as a summary and use as a roadmap for implementation

Option 2 – Listen to an audio recording and write you notes as per option 1

Option 3 – And this is the one I am starting to favour for speed.

Use a kindle and highlight the parts which stand out. You can go back through the book and see all the highlights. I much prefer to get all the highlights together in one place as a condensed version, my version, of the book.

The trouble is, Amazon only lets you have so many highlights per book, which defeats the purpose.

However, I have started using Clippings.io and you can export all the highlights to a Word or PDF.

There are other bits of software out there but this one seems to suit me.

This method allows me to get through a book a lot quicker than before and have good notes at the end. I can then read again the key points and look to implement.
