This is the first line of the Van Halen song. Easier said than done in the current business climate.

But the next line is “you got it tough…” and the fourth line is “You got to roll with the punches……”

We all have got it tough right now and perhaps it’s the businesses that can roll with the punches are the ones that will come out of Covid still fighting.

Mycos started last year outsourcing and it is paying off, being able to mimic a larger company by carrying out many functions, not by ourselves, but by using specialists in their field.

“Concentrate on your core function and leave the rest to others,” is our mantra

Accounting, Social Media, CRM development, Web development just some of the areas Mycos has outsourced.

Yes, there are capital cost savings, reduced labour costs and increased efficiency, but the biggest appeal has been to focus on that core business and to level the playing field with bigger companies and act big.

Outsourcing is one area that can transform an SME.

Things can get us down, but lets role with the punches, come out fighting and succeed!

I'm becoming a blogger.

Should I make my blog name “The Hulk”. After all I want to be talking about green energy and everything green related. But I am certainly not as big as him, and don’t know if his massive hands and fingers could manage to use a keyboard. So, in the absence of a quirky name, I am going to keep the one I have always used – John. My name is John Wilkinson and this is the first blog. My work experience has always been customer service and for the last ten years, business energy.   Take Note   There are several very good books on business on being more productive. I want to read more, because I know they will be beneficial, but more means more time.   So, how do you read more, summarise it, and use what you have learned as quickly as possible Option 1 – You can read the book, write notes as a summary and use as a roadmap for implementation Option 2 – Listen to an audio recording and write you notes as per option 1 Option 3 – And this is the one I am starting to favour for speed. Use a kindle and highlight the parts which stand out. You can go back through the book and see all the highlights. I much prefer to get all the highlights together in one place as a condensed version, my version, of the book.
